- Our Main Ingredient
Essential oils come from plants that are known for healthy benefits. The popularity of essential oils has grown with leaps and bounds over the last few decades. The general knowledge of their therapeutic and medicinal benefits had been collecting dust on shelves - abandoned for hundreds, even thousands, of years.
The ancients understood the healing properties of essential oils via the skin. The oldest written record of this understanding dates from the ancient Assyrians around 2,000 B.C. The Greek physician, Hippocrates (400 B.C.), often considered the Father of Western Medicine, attributed to many plants a vital medicinal role in both preventing and healing human maladies. In the Bible, there is a prophetic writing that depicts a time in which God's blessings are abundant. The prophet Ezekiel (circa 500 B.C.) describes a river that flows from the temple of God for the purpose of nourishing the land with his blessings. Along the banks of this river are lush plants that "provide fruit for food and leaves for healing." This tells us that people of Ezekiel's day understood that plants are designed for food and medicinal applications.
